The Radio Interface Board (RIB) is an option board for the Mercury Interface Unit.

Connections between a Mercury system and a radio are comprised of audio and signaling components. Signaling refers to the methods that the Mercury system and the radio use to communicate with each other at a logic level. Typically, these are Push-to-Talk (PTT), Carrier Operated Relay (COR), Retransmit and Voice Operated Transmission (VOX). Audio refers to audio input and audio output. These components are used to couple the voice signals between a Mercury system and a radio.

The Radio Interoperability Board (RIB) supports eight channels of interconnection to radios or other devices. Each channel of the RIB supports audio in, audio out, PTT and COR (retransmit). Audio levels can be adjusted over a wide range to support different radio characteristics. Up to two seconds of audio delay is available on all audio inputs and outputs.

Typical applications:

  • Conducting communications between Mercury users and radios of any type, distributed over LAN, WAN or Internet.
  • Bridging communications between different types of radios (UHF, VHF, 800MHz)
