Mercury IP Intercom

Mercury is a flexible real-time voice communication platform built on core VoIP technology. The system provides all the operational features associated with conventional digital matrix intercoms with the added benefits of easier, low cost networking of multiple systems over standard IP network architecture.

The Mercury system provides a modern, decentralised intercom for which the MIU serves both as the network link and as a routing matrix for up to 32 users. Where a digital matrix such as Commander or Orator already exists then this may be incorporated in an expanded system. A wide range of interface boards is available for the MIU to connect control panels, 4-wire circuits, telephones, radios, in ear monitors etc.

Users can choose from a variety of desk mount and rack mount panels with up to 32 lever keys or virtual control panels which can be configured with up to 256 buttons. A Mercury Interface Unit may be used as a “host” to which multiple hardware or virtual control panels are connected. This can then be used as a standalone intercom system without any further equipment being required. This arrangement is ideal for a single studio facility, OB vehicle or SNG truck. As the requirement grows, additional panels may be added up to a maximum of 32 on a single MIU. Multiple MIU’s can then be linked via IP to form larger integrated systems. If the requirement is for only one or two panels / 4-wires at a given location, then a USB adaptor operating in conjunction with a laptop or standard PC can be used as an alternative to the MIU. For a single host, the configuration may be stored within the unit whilst for larger multi area systems a supervisory database server running the Mercury Configuration Editor is normally used. Administrators are given precise control over all relevant system and network parameters, including routing, audio levels, priorities etc.

Key Features
  • Manages complex conference and private conversations simply and quickly
  • Provides excellent audio quality – reducing errors and operator fatigue
  • Compatible with all Trilogy Intercom systems
  • Allows multiple sites to be connected simply, reliably and cost effectively
  • Connects multiple digital matrix intercoms over IP
  • All Mercury products are designed to operate with standards-based IT and network technologies - no special routers, switches or gateways are required.

A Typical Installation

Each main site is equipped with a fully featured Commander or Orator digital matrix intercom and a Mercury IP system to transport audio and control data between sites. Smaller sites can be equipped with just an MIU to act as both the intercom and the IP interconnect device.

Programming is flexible and allows for example, the Director in one location to speak to his opposite number in a remote location with a single key press.
